It is no secret that kids love to play. Kindergartens can get hours of enjoyment from the simplest of things, so it makes sense to utilize this natural tendency towards playfulness to enhance their learning experience. Digital learning games can improve kindergarten math skills simply by being fun for the kids who play them. Instead of sitting down with a worksheet or textbook, your child can use your home computer to enter an interactive learning environment that provides the tools they need to grasp basic math concepts. As they navigate their way through colorful levels filled with interesting characters, they will be building the skills necessary to get them ready for addition, subtraction and other more advanced childhood math.
The 1st grade worksheets can also used by parents to bridge between kindergarten lessons & 2nd grade program. It happens on many occasions that children forget or feel unable to recollect the lessons learned at the previous grade. In such situations, 1st grade worksheets become indispensable documents for parents as well as students. A number of commercial & charitable organizations provide a hard copy of such a worksheet at a very nominal price or even free of cost.
Most volumes begin with an explanation of basic arithmetic operations namely: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Reference tables are supplied to provide clues for quick mental arithmetic and mastery of math facts. When ready to be tested, the student can select a drill, which has 10 questions and are selected from a database of number pairs for calculation. The Basic Level volumes use simple single digit numbers and the interactive math software at the Advanced Level uses mostly double digit numbers for math practice problems. Each drill is then scored and timed with the results saved. With the test records, students can follow their own progress and adults who may be supervising can monitor progress and assess if there are any learning issues that require intervention.
With the new school year starting soon, many parents will be concerned about school readiness and looking for ways to help their children prepare for big school. While there are many preschool worksheets available, some are more useful than others in terms of versatility. There is a lot more to school readiness that just knowing the alphabet and counting to ten. Academically, parents can use preschool worksheets to help teach their children some of the basic skills they will need for kindergarten and school. This will include counting to ten, recognizing shapes and colors, being able to hold a pencil or crayon properly, and coloring in without scribbling. Basic math concepts such as recognizing patterns, understanding quantity and some simple addition and subtraction will be useful. By the time your child is ready for kindergarten or school, they should be able to recognize their own name and other simple written words. The sounds of each letter of the alphabet should be familiar to your child, and they should understand the principle of reading from left to right, which way to hold a book, and possibly even be starting to read three and four-letter words.
Now, the kindergarten, first grade and second grade are like first couple of the steps of the stairs. You can learn this level of math easily, as you can jump enough to take yourself to second or third step of the stairs easily. As it is very hard to reach sixth or seventh step of a stairs by jumping from the ground, exactly the same way to learn grade five or higher grade math is very hard (or impossible) without having the good knowledge of the kindergarten to grade three or grade four math. Now, consider one person is jumping on the ground to reach the third floor of a building. Can this person make it? Never, if he is not Spider-man. For this person, to reach the third floor by jumping is impossible or very hard and finally he gave up saying that it was very hard to reach third floor.
If your third grader needs help with math, there are many useful tools that can downloaded directly from the computer. Math is a subject that is best taught with visual aids, making the lessons more tangible for students. Third grade can be particularly challenging when it comes to math, as this is the year that students are learning about fractions, measuring and weighing objects, graphing and counting money. Most importantly, third graders should be comfortable with the basics of math such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. If your child is not comfortable with these basic components, it is almost inevitable that he or she will struggle with future math lessons.
You can find worksheets for a wide range of courses--almost any course you want to teach your children. These include spelling, writing, English, history, math, music, geography, and others. They are also available for nearly all grade levels. There are printable middle school, high school, elementary school, and even pre-school worksheets. There are other sources for worksheets also. You can find many public schools and private schools which will provide free worksheets for you if you buy textbooks from the school. Or you can usually find textbooks and workbooks at the public library, where you can also copy any worksheets that you want to use. So what kinds of worksheets should you get? Anything where you feel that your child needs further drill. We often have this notion that worksheets are just for math. This, of course, is not true. While they are excellent tools for reviewing math facts such as the multiplication tables and division facts, they are just as useful for reviewing parts of speech or the states in the union.
