Play a magnetic fish game with cardboard fish with a paper-clip and a piece of dowel and string with a magnet on the end as a fishing rod. Count the fish in the pond. When one gets caught subtraction how many are left? Division can be as simple as a sharing exercise. "There are 4 people here and I have 8 counters. Let us see how many we will get each". Use play dough or counters or blocks to make groups of items. Talk about what happens when you put groups together (multiplication). Make the terminology you use simple. This age group need simple language instead of mathematical terms. These activities are laying the foundations for further learning.

How much of each item does the Cook need to have on hand if every student (except 5) order a hamburger? It takes Principal Jones 20 minutes to walk from his house to the school. If he walks to the school in the morning and home in the afternoon. How long will he walk in total in 1 school week? How long will he walk in total in a 9 week term? The school day starts at 9:00 a.m. First break is from 11:00 a.m to 11:20 a.m. The second break is from 1:00 p.m to 1:40 p.m. The school day finishes at 3:00 p.m. How much time do the students spend in class in one day? How much time do the students spend in class in one week? How much time do the students spend on break in one day? How much time do the students spend on break in one week?
These children often rebel against a system that has failed to accommodate their needs and a small but significant minority can exert a disproportionately disruptive influence within schools before eventually disengaging with the formal learning process altogether. This, asserts Professor Barbara, has serious implications for us all. Craig Rama of the University of Alabama appears to provide compelling evidence in support of this theory. "Seventy-five percent of all imprisoned males in America have poor school records and low IQs," Rama pointed out. Reference tables are supplied to provide clues for quick mental arithmetic and mastery of math facts. When ready to be tested, the student can select a drill, which has 10 questions and are selected from a database of number pairs for calculation. The Basic Level volumes use simple single digit numbers and the interactive math software at the Advanced Level uses mostly double digit numbers for math practice problems. Each drill is then scored and timed with the results saved. With the test records, students can follow their own progress and adults who may be supervising can monitor progress and assess if there are any learning issues that require intervention.
The math software is undeniably a valuable tool for discovering a students weaknesses or accomplishments. This bundle is appropriate for elementary math students as well as middle school math students, high school math students, who need to learn or re-learn the basics of arithmetic. Many students slip through their early elementary math years with holes in their elementary math education. Older learners will feel the pride of accomplishing math skills they thought they would never learn. However, this software is not only feasible for young learners but for adults as well, who needs to polish and review again their mathematical skills. Teachers on their part find the program valuable as the math tests are scored and stored by the computer for evaluation of progress. The process is also simple because after taking the test, a personalized score sheet is printed along with an evaluation of topics requiring further study. The student can then return to the body of the program and practice those sections which were identified as weak areas. The use of the tests is flexible as the student may take Test A as a pre test and Test B as a post test or Test A may be used for one student and Test B for another. As a whole, a math software is a modern blessing for both learners and teachers who would enjoy studying the numbers instead of dreading them.
There are basic skills every kindergarten needs to know before starting the school year. While the first portion of many school years is used to review basic concepts, teachers quickly move on to new subjects, assuming most children have had plenty of exposure to the basic concepts, including letter and number recognition.
